I too just heard of the news in Aurora. Made even worse as it came on the heels of the tragedy in my hometown of Toronto only an hour from where I now live. I can't even begin to imagine the agony of losing a loved one like this. A 14 child dead in Toronto and the youngest in Aurora, a 9 year old. These little girls lives were cut short before they even really began. I can't understand the thought that goes through the minds of the gunmen who act as reaper with no regard for the pain they cause. Is it a mental health issue left untreated due to a lack of interest on the part of our health care system? Is it drug use as YorkieMom1 has offered as a possible reason? I don't think that anyone will ever truly know. What has changed in our society that has created such rage and lack of regard for human life? There have been so many changes in our social structure that it's probably impossible to pinpoint the issue. All I do know is that my heart goes out to those who are suffering as a result of these acts of violence. |
