Obviously, I was having a horrible day and I completely misunderstood the information as I read it! IF THIS IS ALL ABOUT VETS TELLING THEIR CLIENTS ABOUT WHAT THEY FEEL IS BEST FOR THEIR DOGS, ABSOLUTELY THEY HAVE THE PROFESSIONAL OBLIGATION TO DO SO! I fed some youngsters raw....everyone was going on and on about how great it was, how the dogs loved it, etc...soI tried it and by golly those little buggers went from nursing to eating from a saucer within 24 hours!! I THOUGHT I had solved my weaning issues!!! Within a couple of weeks, the entire litter was deathly sick with bacterial gastroenteritis...MY FAULT!!! Their little systems could NOT handle the bacterial load this raw food released into their system. MY VET FOUND OUT WHAT I HAD DONE AND SHE TOLD ME NEVER GIVE YOUNG PUPPIES RAW DIETS!! If only I had consulted with my vet before I did this, she would have saved me a ton of money, and my entire litter all the misery they endured.....thank God I didnt kill them! SO ABSOLUTELY I AGREE YOUR VET HAS AN OBLIGATION AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY TO INFORM CLIENTS ABOUT PRACTICES THEY FEEL ARE LESS THAN HEALTHY FOR YOUR PET. How to get around the issue of ill informed vets or vets that just do not practice up to date medicine, I dont know how people avoid that inherient danger.
