My dh had surgery for a hernia repair 6 days ago. It had been bothering him since March and I had been telling him to go the doctor, but he wouldn't listen until the pain got really bad. The surgery was about an hour, done on an outpatient basis, and let me tell you the change in him was dramatic. He felt better immediately, and never asked for anything for pain after he got out of the recovery unit.
Get it fixed ASAP, you'll be feeling much better the sooner you get it done.
