I think your rite it deff looks like the metal. Well now I wonder if any gets in the toothpaste & into your dog. I will not be using the CET again. They need to make the tube out of the same thing they make human toothpaste tubes out of. I'm anal about cleaning so I always clean the lid & end of the tube after each use & probably why I have never seen it on mine but I don't like the looks of that at all so mine is going in the trash ASAP.
