I am so very sorry this happened. Please take action quickly and be persistent in your search. Never give up. Was he micro-chipped? Lay something outside around the house that he can smell so he will know where to come back to. Maybe get some kids in your neighborhood to help in the search. I will say a prayer that he will be home soon. Please let us know how it goes.
