That is what I do too. Bentley uses his nose though. I ended up buying poochie bells which was more expensive and I should have just hung jingle bells from a string or ribbon.
I put a "command" hook by the door and hung them from that. Every time we take them out we ring the bells and say let's go potty/ outside. Use whatever command you choose. Bentley was going to the door most of the time, but I often wouldn't see him at the door as he is so small. The bells will be a life saver!
