I use a flea comb after any eye goop is softened up and the bulk of it is removed with a regular comb. The flea comb will remove most residue from eye gunk, then I clean the eye area again with cotton balls/gauze and sterile saline eye solution. Be careful not to snag and pull out a whisker with the flea comb though. I trim the thick whiskers on my dogs' muzzles... sometimes they make the hair go all crazy and stick up and sideways.
Also for any bad eye gunk, I apply opthalmic antibiotic ointment to the eyes and it weeps out onto the hair... I gently work it down to the skin and it usually will help clear it up. |
