As Bob Barker used to say at the end of every one of his Price Is Right shows, "Help control the pet population. Have your pet spayed or neutered." And it's not just for that, but the other reasons others have listed. We had Jack neutered at around 5 1/2 months because he was starting to mark in the house, otherwise I would have waited until he was a tad bit older - he was very small at the time and I was worried but he also had some retained teeth pulled. He did great! The only thing, they didn't have a collar small enough for him, so they fashioned one out of a paper plate and tape! Poor little guy looked pretty silly.
