You really do need to take extra care of a little puppy. Make sure she has had all shots even if she is not going to be near another dog. Just walking where other dogs have been can spread disease to an unprotected puppy.
I don't take Gracie every where with me. We do have a nice park near by where others take their dogs. I try to go early before there are a lot of people there. She has met some friendly dogs there but I have to watch out for the people who let their dogs off lead. Some big dogs think these little furry dogs are toys to play with and that can be dangerous. I feel like I am always on guard and it makes me anxious at times. I don't like feeling like that. I do want her to have fun but be safe at the same time. It's just that I live in an area where the big dogs rule and my little dog is kind of a freak to them.
If you don't know anyone with a small dog maybe you can find a meet up group in your area. Sometimes people with small dogs have meetings so their dogs can get together and have fun in a safe setting. If you have a groomer that you can talk to they might be able to give you some ideas of starting a meet up group of your own with other little dogs.
Of course there is always the option of getting a friend for your little one!
