Suzi is home I was told the vet wanted to talk to me before bringing her home, so both my son and I went home and fell asleep, I woke up and it was after 5pm , they close at 5. I called them and the answering service came on while I was on our way , told me nobody was there, and everything was closed I've been there before after 5pm many times, but this brought me into panic mode quick, and totally stressed. Luckily a vet tech called within few min. told me everything was fine they are there, don't speed , and everything, we live just 10 min. away from the vet hospital. I walk in around 5:20 or so and their were several people picking their animals up, nothing to worry about at all.
DR. Fossest the owner , knew about Suzi's surgery and talked to me, a very nice vet, and then our vet came out told me everythiing went well. They brought Suzi out wrapped up in her little pillow left for her, she was alert, but looked dazed. The dental cleaning was sucessful and no teeth exctraction. YAY. THey gave me antibiotics and pain meds, and instructions for eating. I have a inflatable collar that is so much nicer then the lampshade, and comfortable for Suzi to wear. She did drink water on her own, and kept it down, and gave her a small treat, kept that down too. She is just quiet, and having a hard time getting comfortable.
I was told though that she was beggining to show signs of polyetherima, something like that, it is when the uterus is swollen and mucas is inside, something that is actually seen in older dogs getting spayed, she is just 4. That was scary, but it is all taken care of now.
When she is well , I got to figure out how to clean her teeth, she refuses to open her mouth, it is hard. Total cost was not bad though, $371.00. and definately worth every penny. Price estimate was 400-500 dollars.
