Before I breed my ladies, I have blood work drawn...CBC, lytes, etc. I like to know all is well....you need to know where you are, so you know where to go, if anyplace. I start my ladies on Royal Canin HT 42-D, from the first day of Estrus until day 42 of gestation. Then I switch to Royal Canin Pro Mini Starter, from Day 43 until the babies are born and reach 8 weeks of age....if she is still nursing them, I will continue giving it to both momma and babies....then I graduate to Pro mini puppy until the babies are a year old...that is what they go to new owners on, and HOPEFULLY, they LEAVE them on it. Momma goes back on RC Yorkie Adult.... I routinely do blood work on momma, in order to insure we are hitting our necessary levels on ,ytes....I give 1/2 cup canned salmon twice a week, as you get more calcium for your punch in salmon...also broccoli.... But I ALWAYS have calcium you give by mouth...chicken flavored...for emergencies....this stuff can save a dogs life if she starts having symptoms of eclampsia, before you get to the vet with them...it will keep them from progressing into seizures......
