I'm so sorry for your loss and I completely understand how you are feeling right now, as I lost my little one, Duke, just two weeks ago. He was 9 and also fell ill suddenly, and after spending two days in the hospital, his little heart just couldn't take it.
I wasn't there with him when he passed away either, and it breaks my heart that I wasn't there to hold him and tell him how much I loved him, etc. I just received his ashes on Monday, so Duke is back home with me, right where he belongs.
I'm sure that in time we will both feel better, but it's getting through this really difficult time that is really painful.
