When I first got ZoE, I had the potty pads in her x-pen in the living room. As she become trained, I removed panels from the x-pen, but kept the pads in the same place. Then I gradually started moving them, around the corner & down the hallway, to where I wanted them. (I just moved them a bit each day.
Now they are permanently in the hallway, so I have to walk by them to get to my bedroom, but I don't mind. Anyone that visits and uses the bathroom, sees them in the hallway. I didn't want them in the bathroom, one ...because I just don't have the room in there and two...if someone is using the bathroom, I was afraid, she wouldn't go in there and might go potty in my house. I want her to be able to get to her potty pads all the time.
You can get pretty washable potty pads made in custom fabric colors that coordinate with your decor, so they don't look so bad sitting out.
