This is slightly off of the subject, but not by far. Be sure you really know the people you visit before taking your dog into their home. Once, my husband (at the time) and I took our Chihuahua's out with us for the day. My husband got a call from a friend of his. We were in the area where they lived and decided to stop by to say hello. We stayed for just a short while and headed home. I noticed that the dogs seemed a little ill upon arriving home. I thought that they had gotten car sick and didn't think much of it. It started to storm really bad outside and I noticed I didn't see the dogs anywhere (they usually cuddled up during a storm). I found one and she was sleeping in her bed (which was odd, but not crazy). I couldn't find the other. I finally found him sleeping outside on the patio in the middle of the slamming rain (the doors always stayed cracked for them). He didn't even hear me calling him and he freaked out and started crying when I picked him up. I knew something was VERY wrong. To try to make this short, when I took them both to the vet, he kept asking me if there was anything they could have gotten into in my house. I kept saying there was nothing that I knew of. He said "nothing like marajuana?" I was totally offended that he was asking me that...and he asked me more than twice. I then started to get totally pissed and I told him to find the real problem b/c I don't do anything like that and I would certainly not have something like that in my home!! I felt like I was being judged because I was young. Not the case...that's exactly what it was. I would have never guessed that the people we saw would have something like that in their home. They were a couple with two small children (one was a newborn and the reason we stopped by was to see him). It just goes to show that you never know. I apologized for my being so rude to the vet and thanked him for saving my doggies' life. Apparently he had seen that alot and knew exactly what it was.
