I would suggest that anyone who is interested in learning about the Biewer Yorkshire Terrier to read the information posted on Snow Blue yorkies website.. she has done alot of research and gotten some excellent information..
There are still those in this country who believe in breeding only Biewer to Biewer because they believe they need to keep the lines pure... IMHO, this is a huge mistake as the lines are too inbred as it is. In Germany, breeders are breeding back to the yorkie to continue to bring fresh blood into their lines.. health, above all, should be the driving force above all else.. this is how Biewers have always been bred, it continues to be the practice today. Only in this country have some decided that they want to stop this practice to gain entrance into AKC.. one has to wonder, is it worth the health of an entire line of dogs?? I can tell you for me, it is not and I will continue to put my dogs health above acceptance into the UKC.
