You know, I didn't really think too much into this until about 6 months ago. We have all our pill bottles and cleaners in a cabinet with a lock on it. One day someone in the house got into the cabinet and forgot to lock it back. Too bad we did not realize this until my one year old at the time had gotten the tylenol out of the cabinet, somehow managed to open the bottle, (even though it was suppose to be child proof) and ate an unknown number of the pills. I came into the room and found him sitting on the floor, surounded by little white pills. I immediatly called poison control, who alerted the hospital that we were on the way. We spent hours there, having his stomach pumped, and having him drink the charcoal stuff. Lots of fun that was!!! I am so lucky that the situation turned out the way that it did. Because I could have lost my sweet boy that day. So when we came home needless to say we went through the whole house, and checked, then double checked everything.
Or so we thought. About a month or so ago, not very long after we lost sugar. Gizmo was really starting to act funny, just laying around not eating or drinking. Not knowing what was going on, I asked some people on here for help. I did what was recomended, nutri-cal, water through syringe etc. Well, stayed up with him all night, and early the next morning, he got up to poop. So I took him onto his pad in the kitchen, and about five minutes later, out popped a baby bottle nipple. Yeah I know, who ever would have thought. I have no idea how that nipple got on the floor in the first place. But it got there, and he ate it. Just goes to show that they really have no idea what is food, and what is deadly. Thank God he was able to get that through on his own! I could not imagine being alone. So needless to say, now I'm on constant floor duty. Check the carpets, kitchen floor, under beds, cribs, bathrooms, everywhere!! It's the only way that I feel safe. I'm so glad that you started this Villette, it is SO SO important that people really know the dangers that are all over the place. It could be something that we walk past everyday, electric cords, pestisides, cleaners, NIPPLES, LOL. You just don't know!!
