^^^Agree! Not too late! and yes space out the commands too. If you do the same commands in the same order all the time, they will remember it to be in that order only, like a choreographed dance. LOL I would do a hand signal for sit with all fingers touching the the thumb. Then down using the pointer finger and pointing the the ground. It's different looking enough so she won't confuse the two. I've also seen people use the pointer finger and point up for "sit" and then point down for "down" but then I would think that could look confusing.
