Now I know and like many longstanding traditions, the origins are a bit unclear and attributed to more than one source. The timing one makes the most sense. But whatever, whoever started it, I've started longing for strawberries & cream about this time every year for a while now. But recipe was a bit surprising - soft brown sugar used in it. That has got to add the most interesting flavor - I have got to try that. Wow, that looked good - that ladies's version. Made me starve for some!
