I guess it rapidly takes the air from their lungs and they die. Imagine a place that calls themselves a "humane society" doing such a thing. It has been going on for decades and is supported by the county. A group of people broke off from that organization years ago and started another shelter that keeps the animals as long as possible and only puts down hopeless cases. They do it by injection. Of course that means they often run out of space. There is never enough room for all the homeless animals in this area. So sad.
