When mine were pups, they were afraid to walk outside. Hot Rod was petrified to walk in the dark. He would hear the occasional car go by and get so scared. Today 5 years later, he just heads out without any reservation.

Could the ground be hot for your little one? I know that mine have a hard time during the day with going out. I've actually started only taking them in the backyard due to this issue. We've been having 90+ degree weather for the past couple of weeks/month and I have black asphalt throughout my neighborhood.

Another thing that we have going on, we have a lot of wildlife here. We have foxes, rabbits and deer that I know come thru my yard at night as I fight the hoof prints in my gardens as well as their poop piles. My 2 are constantly smelling the ground and if the animals have been particulary active, my 2 seem to not want to go off our property. It's a chore to get them to even walk the length of our front yard on the road.
