We never had a problem over night. I always took her out just before bedtime and first thing in the morning.

But now, she's become a little defiant. She's not always going when we take her out - even tho I know she should be going.

So earlier today I walked Lucy a good while after she ate and drank. Nothing happened. I brought her back in and went to my bedroom to check on my son. The 3 of us cozied up on the bed for a little bit.

Then, my doorbell rang and I got up to answer - leaving both my babies on the bed. As I talked to a neighbor at the door, my son came running down holding Lucy in the air and saying: "She pee'd on the duvet!!"

We brought her right outside, but she apparently finished on my bed. It's the first time she's done that. However, since it hasn't been her first "accident", we're reconsidering our training methods.

We going to the crate. I set up the crate in my bedroom next to my bed. Lucy's in there now napping. We'll take her out to eat, drink and play. But when we're not watching, in she goes. Lucy is not pleased.

At this point, I don't know what else to do. I think I'll let her back in bed once I feel she understands the rules and goes outside only.

Well, good luck to you. Hopefully, you'll have a pee-less transition.

It is helpful to have your dog know the "pee" command when you outside train. It takes a few days for them to get it. When you take her out to potty don't let her wander but take her to the same place each time and say "go potty"(or what ever command you prefer) over and over until she goes. Then take her right inside and reward her greatly. She has to learn that she is outside for one purpose. Going in the same place also places the scent right there that will also help to motivate her to potty. Later after that is well engrained in her mind you can take her for walks after she has done her business. This method worked well with one of our dogs that had been really difficult to train up to that point. It takes a few days before it clicks in their mind but she will get it. It does take some patience on your part.
