What weird and wonderful (or not so wonderful) stories do you have to tell about home cooking surrounding the circle of your family and friends?
tell me your funny stories, please!
My Mom was full of them
One that always stands out to me, is surrounding our garden and a certain crop of small new potatoes at the end of the season.
My Mom decided she was NOT going to scrub and peel 100 potatoes for dinner (they really were tiny) so she loaded them all up in the family washing machine with a little dish soap and let 'er rip!
Not only did it work, meaning they came out fresh and clean and void of dirt ~ they also came ou t PEELED!!!
Gotta love my Mom!! Whoever said that "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" must have known my Mother |
The potato cleaning method is ingenious!! I can remember helping my mom peel thousands of those tiny new potatoes when she would can them.
