My two girls like bully sticks.....but they love flossies.
These two products are make by Merrick and are fully digestable. Merrick has their own website to order from if you don't have some place local that carries them.
We do have a local pet supply store that carries a lot of good food brands, treats and chews. I have never seen the Merrick brand at Petco.
I recently bought a whole case (50 of the flossies) and the box is in the top of the closet. Zoe' knows this and when she doesn't have one down to chew on, she points her nose in that direction sniffs and barks to let you know she wants one.
So yes I definetly think they can smell them.
They are good to clean the teeth. The chewing keeps the tarter from building up. Both of mine even my 12 week old love to chew.
