Get a motion light and aim it at a spot near the pool, gate or wherever so If someone moves it comes on. It will scare them because they will think you flipped on a light. Paired with the baby monitor as someone mentioned, you would know if someone was there because you would hear them scrambling to leave and probably a few expletives as they do.

We have cameras and an alarm system but the alarm doesn't cover someone climbing over our fence. Although, here, coming into a fenced in area with locked gates still constitutes trespassing and if I felt threatened, I could shoot them. I have shown up at the front yard with a loaded shotgun in hand. The teens in question didnt hang around to see if I was actually going to use it or not.
