No, I don't think it's as bad as some people make it out to be. Yes you have to be more cautious in the heat. I don't keep Jackson out running or anything for long periods of time and we go for walks early or later. Most of his exercise in the summer comes from swimming. Mainly because he doesn't like the heat. But I know lots of dogs who don't mind the heat as much and do better. I think it just depends on the individual dog. I think it's important to be smart about it... always water them down, have water for them to drink, don't walk on burning hot pavement... but no reason they can't go outside and go to the bathroom or go out in short increments if they desire. Just have common sense about it
