I think it was meant as a compliment.
I had someone pretty much say the same thing to me and I asked if they were willing to sell their house to afford her. They looked really dumb founded and I added........just kidding, I would never sell her for any amount of money.
We talked on our walks from then on, however about a year after she did purchase a yorkie with my help. She then continued to tell me, she bought one of the cheap ones.
