Our breeder said it was a great idea to have 2, and that we should wait with no 2 till no 1 was fully trained and housebroken. After we had Kali for 3 months there was no doubt, we were absolutely getting a second when she turned 1 year - and we did and they LOVE each other.
So stop mentioning it and let him get to know your first dog. He will love it and see that a number 2 is quite ok...
