When my puppy Lucy gets nippy, I quickly give her a favorite chew toy. Really, they need to chew. I do correct her when she nips at humans - I don't want her to think that that activity is OK.
I've also been taking Lucy for plenty of walks. We don't go far but I find that the activity makes her sleep very very well at night. She also is training to "go" outside.
