Yes, I think you are 100% right. I am very lucky in that my girls have only needed one dental so far, around age 3-ish, they are now 6 and almost 6. Probably be due again soon, but the vet at last checkup said that there teeth looked great

So I would say that the products and brushing DO help, but a lot of it is genetic too, and luck of the draw.
