Well, if you're going to put her in a car-seat then you can gently hand carry her, but if she'll be staying in the crate for the car ride home, then just put her in the crate.
It's amazing how quickly they bounce back, though, the hardest part for me was keeping each of the girls calm and quiet after their spays.
