They were born yesterday and I just weighed them today and their weights are right about the same. Shouldn't they be gaining a bunch? Any time I take the puppies out to weigh them the mama runs over and tries to grab them from me. She is very protective. No biting or growling but just shaking some when I take one to weigh it. They are all latching on every time I check on them. Not sure what to do. |
for the first 2 weeks, I weigh the puppies 2 or 3 times a day and even more if I am concerned about one of them. I have learned to never let them lose weight. For me, that is my signal that I need to do something right away. Either supplement or make sure the puppy losing is getting some alone time with mom, every situation is different but I always intervene if they lose weight....
