I imagine that would be similar to giving him wet food, so he may not need any extra water. Unless an animal is sick, they intuitively know how much water they need. Drinking excess water isn't good either and it can cause some imbalances. Some people will give their dog an ice cube and others give a little unsalted defatted chicken broth to tempt them to drink. Have you had a check-up with the vet since you bought your dog? This is always an important step. By the way, some dogs don’t like stainless bowls, the reflection scares them, you could always try changing the bowl, to see if it’s something about the bowl that he doesn’t like.
