For chewing, someone here told me (can't remember who, this was almost 6 years ago
) to use a stick of cheap men's deodorant on any items that were being chewed. It WORKED and it did not damage the finish on the wood. Izzy was an aggressive chewer and she actually liked the bitter apple spray
