cedric has potty pads inside and has since i brought him home. he will however go potty outside if we are out and he has to go. it is nice in the winter for him to have the potty area or on very rainy days. it takes patience and consistency for the beginning stages. be prepared for marking in the future as well. once they get that instinct you may need a belly band. once i had cedric neutered this stopped but from time to time i still do find a marking spot in the house.
