Hi Nancy, how much does Joey weigh? If you feel you may have a gulper, then bigger is better. I would go with a larger portion of a chicken back (1/3rd to 1/2 a back and take it away or trade when they have eaten enough). One way to "teach" your dog to chew would be to hold the chicken back while watching him pull pieces off and chew them. Keep doing it until he gets the hang of it.
