It took about 6 months of this before he adapted to life without her. Now I have learned when I have two - like a dog and a cat - if one is being put down I take the other with me and let them smell their friend and this has worked towards the greiving.
Every time I have a pet pass I swear that I will never get another because it hurts too much BUT I always end up with another fur kid.
My 2 aren't from the same parents but from the same breeder, Allie is 10 weeks older than Noah. They played so well together and looked so cute when I went to the breeders that I ended up with them both.
When Noah was sick, we got special permission from the vet to bring Allie to the hospital and let them see and smell each other. I really think it helped him turn a corner and it definitely helped her with her anxiety since he had been gone. He was at the vet for 11 days with parvo and we honestly almost lost him. She was soo happy the day he came home.
