I've always have been a great big animal lover. As as chid our family had poms, only one little dog, always. I use to go over to neighbors homes that had cats, then kittens I use to adore and love to play with the kittens. one yr. for my borthday my parents gave me a surprise, they allowed me to choose a pom puppy that was going to be a family pet. I got to chose her name and this little baby folowed me everywhere, then i spent a week at a summer camp, came home and the dog was totally attatched to my mother. However, I was in charge of grooming her allthe time I brushed her long hair and the dog ws so calm and relaxed. Years later, I got into cats, I was also a single parent to a disabled child, But my son was always ill, later on I found out he was actually highly allergic to them. So no more cats. Yrs later I became perm. disabled too. It was not until my late 30's that I began wanting a small dog . I was home alone all the time, my son wsa in a special program for his needs, and was never home until 6pm and left at 6:15am to commute to his school.
Anyway, I started looking at the yorkie breed, and thought that they were the most adorbale little dogs i've ever seen. I found a breeder, and purchased my first puppy I ever owned as a adult. Both my son and I fell totally head over heels with her, my son helped me name her. And it was within days that I found YT. Thank goodness I did. She was going on 9 weeks and helped me so much when she would not eat at first ,and I followed instructions from YT members. placing kayro syurp on her gums and she did began eating . Suzi is now just 4 yrs old, and is also my son's official service dog. A year later we brought home a shih tzu puppy, and this was a added bonus. Miely is different from Suzi , much more laid back and calmer, so we have the best of both worlds.
I wonder why I took so long in my life to bring a dog home. however, I did work full time and was dealing with a autistic / intelectually delay child. My son is now nearly 19, still has autism still has intellectual delays. I stay home all day long, son still goes to a special program. Miely is officially my service dog, she is 3. I will admit puppyhood is a great challenge for most of us, but they are like babies , and it is to be expected their will be potty accidents, and mishaps, Suzi was a chewer chewed on nearly all my pant legs, chewed on the corners of walls, and my oak end table, normal puppyhood behavior . She did grow into a beautiful gorgeous yorkie though, and still loves to be babied.
If I ever had any doubts about getting a puppy if would of been from not knowing what to do in certain cases. Our lives have been enriched by our little dogs. And their is nothing I would not do for them. I've never regretted our decision. EVer. But some people are just not ready to handle the responsibility of dog ownership, or know how to care for them the right way. That is ok, but it saddens me when that happens. my old next door neighbor tried with small dogs, then I would see the puppy outside alone crying by her door, I turned her in, because she was not caring for the dog the right way, neglect. We lived in a apartment, and my dogs would go nuts hearing the pup cry or see the pup at our door. I could not let the pup inside, because I figured the pup had no vaccines , but would leave food and water for this baby. Other incidents would occur as I listened to a very loud cries of a puppy that wsa being left outside on the balcony way accross the street, and reported that too, plus , my heart fell into my stomach when I saw a small yorkie with a heavy chain around his neck left outside on a patio.
With that all said, the OP did the right thing, she wanted her old life back, she was young and did not want the responsibility of a puppy, yorkies are especially like human babies as puppies, so I hope this little puppy will find a loving new home that he can be a little prince, and fully cherished by his new family.
