When she is with him she gives him her undivided attention. He seems to have a pretty good connection with her so far. However, he sleeps in my room in his crate and is fed by me. I watch him a good majority of the day. I'm hesitant to give him too much attention for fear he will see me as his owner. Is there anything we can do to reinforce the fact that he belongs to my friend? This is a tricky situation and i want to do it right. Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

wish i could be more help . Imo, short of ignoring him, there is not much you can do. Like you said, you feed him , care for him , and he even sleeps with you.
technically he "is" your dog...
