Smile You Are Not Alone!

I know EXACTLY how you are feeling right now. We rehomed our little Bella because some friends got her through a family tragedy and their children were just too little for her. She was 1.5 lbs at the time. We had just retired and felt footloose and free of responsibility. Enter Bella. Our VERY FIRST dog. Leash walking, potty training, afraid to leave her alone for more than 30 minutes, finding food she liked/would eat, etc. etc. etc.
There were days I would sit down and cry because I felt like I had a child again with all the chores and responsibility. We were also BIG international travelers and that was not an option for us at that point, wouldn't board her and all family members had BIG dogs or cats. And on top of all that, my husband just wasn't in to any of the chores, just playtime. Yes, it was hard, it wasn't something we had planned, researched or prepared for. So, I KNOW what you mean. Fast forward, Bella has been with us for 3 years now and she is the CENTER of our lives. We have become DOG people 100%.(we were not dog people in any way before Bella, I was like Lucy in the peanuts cartoon if a dog licked me) We have learned that there are times when we have to make decisions about travel because we won't board her, our choice. All the other chores are just part of the daily routine and I don't even notice them. I could never put into words the joy, love, and fun she has added to our lives. I would never consider giving her away, she is our true furchild. Please hang in there, come to us for support, and you will be amazed at how enriched your life becomes with the love and relationship with a Yorkie. The wonderful members on Yorkie Talk helped me learn to be a good "dog mom" when I had no idea what I was doing. They were always there to guide, teach, support, and encourage me. Come to us when you need ANY assistance. You will NEVER be sorry you made the decision to love Marley and have him by your side. Trust me, 4 lbs. of fluff changed my life, for the better, FOREVER. You are not alone in this journey. We'll be there to celebrate each milestone in your and Marley's relationship. You will not be sorry you decided to accept the wonderful chance to love a dog unconditionally!
