MY vet told us at 6.5 lbs that he wouldn't really get any bigger-that was two months ago (and a neuter) and he's at 8.1 lbs. He gets plenty of exercise, and he's not pudgy, plus, he IS 21 inches long
My point is, if your vet isn't used to your breed, they may not be as accurate with weight/size fluctuations in a particular breed.
