Now about metal clasps... there is normally some kind of flaw in metal either a bubble or a hairline crack... just saying it can happen with the best leashes also... depends on if they have hit the floor or sidewalk, how many times a dog has forceably pulled against it, and other stresses like temperature, etc. Best thing to do would be to replace the leash or hardware depending on how often it is used and abused, bc they're only going to handle so much stress. Might be good to go up a size in leashes, so the clasp is the next size bigger... it may be able to handle the stress better than the size you were using. Or put two small leashes on her... that way if one breaks you'll have a back up. |
So true!! I am terrified to trust leashes or harnesses or D-rinds....I would be using 2 leashes! When we go to the beach and I DO have a dog on a leash, I pass the leash thru the halter where the strap that goes around the tummy meets the strap on the back, and I pass the end of the leash back up thru the loop handle on the leash, so that I have a slip knot formed by the leash attached around the halter, and I hold the clasp end in my hand.....
