Like Yorkietalkjilly said training a dog is all about praise and reward. When your dog does it right or even close to right you need to show how pleased you are with her. What you learn in class has to be practiced at home daily. If you do not keep up with the training the dog will regress. Even people who show their dogs in obedience trials continue to train their dogs daily. If you want her to come she cannot be afraid of you. If you have gotten upset with her during the day she is going to avoid you at night. You need to call her with a happy voice and reward her when she does come. Do not get upset. It takes patience. She wants to make you happy but if she does not understand or is afraid you are not going to have good results.
You might want to go to a real trainer and not the one at PetSmart. Look for someone who has dogs that they have trained to go to obedience shows. Someone who has years of experience and a good reputation for having happy healthy dogs. |
