Chase has had an upset stomach this weekend. It started off Friday night with a softer than normal poo. Saturday morning it was a bit runny, and Saturday night it was all liquid. Yesterday it was all liquid (about 4 times), and he even didn't make it to his pad once (close though), which is the first accident we've had in well over a year. He acted fine the whole time, otherwise I would have taken him to the emergency vet. He was eating normally, still playing, etc. I started giving him chicken, rice, and pumpkin yesterday, which he loves. I decided to get him in to the vet anyway, just to make sure it wasn't anything serious. We were able to get him an appointment this morning, although his normal vet is on vacation (of course
), so he had to see someone different. His fecal came back normal, temp was good, and he got a very thorough exam. He was a bit dehydrated, so he got some subcutaneous fluid (which he was SO good for, the vet was super impressed, and I'm a proud mommy
), some meds to give him every 6 hours for 5 days (endosorb), and Hills I/D canned food for 5 days (only this food, no treats). I hope it works. It's times like this I wish he could talk and tell me how he's feeling.....
I don't know what could have caused this.....Calvin has been fine. We have not switched foods, they only go outside once or twice a day for our walks and they are on a leash and not unattended.
