I agree that they were probably well-loved by their owners but what would you have authorities do with dogs that maim or kill? Would you take them? Shelters, rescues everywhere are full to overflowing & Animal Shelters in this country are daily killing thousands of dogs who have never bitten, let alone killed. And apparently the owner can't control them. Dogs aggressive enough to sustain an attack to the death of the victim are vicious - not through any fault of their own. Pitbull rescues are already full everywhere. These bully dogs are just often genetically damaged due to fighting tendencies in their bloodlines from unethical breeding for #1)vicious ferocity & #2)bulldog determination to sustain attacks until the dog itself drops from exhaustion. Often, that is way too late for its helpless victim. You just can leave a dog like that out in society where it could repeat.
