I will agree with all the other posters, that said most likely is UTI, and that should be caught early. His behaviour changes logically could result from an infection or some sort. Get that checked out first and then see how it goes.

How-ever personality changes can and do happen when neutering or spaying any animal; it is just one of the usually (small) risks of that operation.

I hope you get to the bottom of this.
