Yorkies are inside dogs. They don't have a double coat like most breeds, which can keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. A double coated dog is an outside dog, although they do well inside too. A Yorkies had a single hair, like the human head, and it's not efficient in keeping us warm or cool. I have a problem with breeders keeping Yorkies outside, but never have I heard of a pet owner doing it. Remember, dogs can't perspire like humans do to cool themselves off, it's up to you to keep them at the proper temperature.
