Positioning is critical during surgery...under anesthesia, your muscles are totally, completely relaxed and you can do damage to joints, nerves, and tissue if you do not handle the person with a prescribed protocol they all use in oR...I am sure it is the same way with a dog....his leg could have been so relaxed, that knee popped out and maybe you need to have the vet take a look to be sure it popped back in...it could just be th way they had him laying,or they may have unintentionally leaned on that hind leg just a little, causing muscle soreness....so to answer your question, Yes, something could have happened during surgery!
