But when we run in the house he easily goes faster than me. So maybe he just doesn't want to or he's to young(5 1/2months).

Yes my 5 1/2 month yorkie likes to run with me and has since I got her at 3 months. But i totally leave it up to her. We walk for at least 2 miles everyday and someways she will run most of the way and other days she really just wants to walk. I would never pull her and make her do it as I realize she has to work much harder than me with those little short legs. We always start out walking and with her normal walking I really have to step it up to keep up with her. Then when she gets ready to run she will look up at me as if to say "are you ready" and I say okay let's run and off we go. the other day we were walking and some guy was running and when he went by us she started in running and ran right along side of him until he turned off. It also depends on the heat. If its real hot out she usually walks. I also take water with me so I can give her a drink every little bit. If you really want to run and she doesn't want to you might consider walking with a stroller, let her walk to get her exercise and then put her in the stroller so you can run. I have thought about doing this so I could run a little more after she is done.
