 distemper/bordetella reaction?
On Groupon there was a 20.00 grooming package at a trusted groomer . Allie hasn't been to a groomer in over a year. I always bathe her and very minimally trim her. Her nails, bum, paws need trim and ears tipped. So i thought for 20 what a deal. Well she needs the bordetella vaccine to go. She was due for her checkup anyway. The vet told me she needed lepto and distemper too. Because she is allergy sensitive I said no to lepto but they gave the other two. Today she woke up acted normally but then around 1:00 she started acting weird. She threw up and pooped normal but seemed lethargic . I checked her all over looking for anything, swelling, hives .. I didn't know exactly what I'm was looking for but knew something wasn't right. Called the vet and took her in. They gave her fluids under her skin by the nape of her neck and told me to keep an eye on her. Everything else was normal. She has since perked up and ate dinner with no more vomiting or lethargy. I guess it was side effects from the vaccines? Is the distemper really necessary? I feel so bad. I feel like I took in a healthy dog and because of these vaccines it made her sick. All for the sake of beauty ? I can do everything except her nails, lesson learned. I'm sorry Allie!! |
