my past yorkies came from show breeders and had tails just not long ones, the show breeders seem to know how to dock properly and leave a little something. Also the hair on a properly docked tail usually will grow so you can still get some of that cascade effect.
Does anyone know about hair on tails, if I don't cut Lola's I wonder how long it will grow. I am afraid that it will eventually start getting caught in things. I am pretty careful but the other night after a few hours on YT I found out she had curled up and went to sleep under my desk chair, and I started to roll over it, luckily I only got the hair end, not the tail muscle or cartilage or whatever the tail is made of. I can see why they dock working dogs because tails can be a hazard. Even now Lola's tail till surprises her and she jumps back like OMG

what the heck is following me, now when she chases her tail she can easily catch it
